Simple and Tasty Dips in Less Than 5 Minutes

Simple and Tasty Dips in Less Than 5 Minutes

A food processor is all you need to recreate any dip imaginable, whether it be textured, creamy, spicy, cheesy, nutty, or sweet. So whether you're looking to save money, add more flavor to your humdrum dips, or are feeling adventurous, you should give making your own dips a try—it can literally take less than 5 minutes, regardless of what you're making

Here are a few of our favourites

Hummus

Hummus is a Middle Eastern chickpea-based dip with a creamy texture and a bright, nutty taste that is to die for. Chickpeas will pair well with just about any roasted vegetable purée or spice including garlic, roasted red pepper, and sun dried tomato.

2 cups of chick peas, canned or cooked
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoon yogurt
1/4 cup tahini
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon paprika/red pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt

Process all except except the oil;
Add enough oil to make a thick paste.

Serve drizzled with warm Olive oil & sprinkled paprika. (Sweet Smked or Hot depending on your taste)

Baba Ganoush

Baba ghanoush or Eggplant dip, is a Levantine dip that can be made at home in a food processor with just an eggplant, olive oil, and a few spices. We love to create a smoky flavourd eggplant dip which is made by charring the skin of an eggplant over a gas burner, before processing for an earthy, full-bodied flavor.

1 medium eggplant, roasted
1 medium sized onion
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
tablespoon parsley, chopped
tablespoon tahini

Process all ingredients to a chunky paste.

Harissa

Try this to spice up your day. Prepared from hot chilli peppers, to give extra flavour try adding ingredients like lemon juice, coriander seed and cumin seed. Here is how we make it at home.

1/4  Cup dried chilies, soaked in water for an hour and then roughly chopped
2 sun-dried tomatoes roughly chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
tablespoon caraway seed
tablespoon coriander seed
1/4 Cup fresh mint, chopped
1/2 Cup fresh coriander, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 Cup olive oil

Process all ingredients except the oil

Stir in enough oil to make a thick paste.
